Where it Begins: Your Skin

Determining Your Skin Type

It's very important to know what your skin type is, especially when shopping for cosmetics. Here's a quick and easy test to find out now:

First, cleanse your skin properly with a cleanser meant for normal skin. Use a toner, then blot your skin dry with a soft cloth. Examine your skin closely.

How does it look and feel?

If your skin feels elastic (doesn't pull or feel tight when you smile or frown), and you have no acne or redness: you have Normal Type Skin.

If your skin feels tight, looks flaky and lacks shine, you have Dry Type Skin.

If you notice an oily sheen on your skin, you have Oily Type Skin.

If you have broken capillaries, persistant redness or itchiness, you have Sensitive Type Skin.

If you have oily skin all over but your skin feels dry around the cheeks and neck OR dry skin all over and you have acne OR oily skin all over but you have acne, you have Combination Type Skin.
